Happy New Year!

Welcome! It's a new year and a new look to my website. I'm entering into the world of blogging! Scary stuff here. I don't have a clue how this is really done but if you feel adventurous you will join the journey with me. I'm not sure how often I will be posting....I'm assuming that in the beginning it will be scarce. But stick with me, as soon as I get the hang of it, you will probably get sick of me really quick.

I've posted this lovely mallard painting to talk about my recent venture into pastels. I love the medium but never really learned too much in my are education regarding technique and such. So I've been doing some self education and have developed a real love for this medium. I get instant gratification (or not) because its just you, the pastel, and the paper. It's drawing in color basically. So I've been spending a lot of time with it as of late and have quite a few pieces as a result and have been busy matting them so they are ready for sale if and when the opportunity presents itself.

At the end of the month I will be taking a portrait painting class. I am trying to overcome my fear of this subject. It's not so much fear, I suppose, but just insecurity. I am not totally comfortable with it and I feel the need to learn from someone who has it together. So that's probably what next month's blog will be about.
